SMA Area Chambersburg (CASHS) is a public high school located in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. The school serves classes 9, 10, 11, and 12. Students come from Chambersburg and towns around Hamilton, Greene, Lurgan, Letterkenny, and Guilford. CASHS is accredited by the Association of Colleges and Schools of Central America.
In the 2005-06 school year, schools had enrollment of 1,858 students and 105.5 FTE grade teachers, for a student-teacher ratio of 17.6. There are four administrators, five guidance counselors, three paraprofessionals, eight secretaries and seven helpers working in the school. CASHS has occupied its current facility since 1955. In 1962, 26 rooms were added to the secondary school building.

Academic achievement
In 2012, Chambersburg Regional High School declined further into 2nd Year of Repair Action due to its persistent failure to improve student achievement in mathematics and reading. The school reaches only 7 out of 18 measurable academic metrics. In 2011, the Chambersburg Regional High School refused to 2nd Year Corrective Action II due to ongoing failures to improve student achievement in mathematics. Science achievement is also very low. Under the federal government's No Left Behind Act, school administration is required to notify parents of poor school outcomes and offer parents the opportunity to move to successful schools within the District. In addition, the Chambersburg County High School administration was requested by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, to develop a School Enhancement Plan to address low school student achievement. Under the Pennsylvania Accountability System, Schools must pay additional tutoring for struggling students. The Chambersburg Area High School is eligible for additional special grants under the School Enhancement Grants that schools must apply each year.

Science in Motion
Chambersburg Regional High School and both District high schools take advantage of a state program called Science in Motion that brings college professors and advanced science equipment to schools to raise awareness of science and to provide an investigative experience for students. The Science in Motion program is funded by state appropriations and school fees are not available to participate. Gettysburg College gives her experience to the schools.
College remediation
According to a Pennsylvania Education Department study released in January 2009, 16% of the Chambersburg University Area High School graduates require remediation in mathematics and or reading before they are ready to take college level courses in the Pennsylvania State System from a college or college. Passing requirements
The Chambersburg Area School Board has determined that to graduate a student must earn 23.5 credits, including: 4 Units of English Credit; 4 Units of Mathematics Credit (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, fourth math); 3.5 Credit Units Social Sciences (Beginning Hist., World Hist., Am. Hist., And Citizenship); 3 Unit Credit of Science (Biology plus 2 other sciences); 2 Credit Units Fitness and Fitness; 6.5 Credit Units Choice of Choice; 0.25 Credit Unit Speech.
By law, all Pennsylvania high school students must complete the project as part of their eligibility to graduate from high school. The type of project, its accuracy, and its expectations are determined by each school district. SMA Area Chambersburg requires completion of the Junior Project to meet these requirements. The Junior project is completed along with their junior English classes.
With the Pennsylvania School Board rules, starting with the 2017 class, public school students must demonstrate successful completion of middle-level course work in Algebra I, Biology, and English Literature by passing the Keystone Exam. The exam is given at the end of the course. The Keystone exam replaces the PSSA for grade 11. Students have several opportunities to pass the exam, with those who can not do the project to graduate. For the 2019 class, Composition exam will be added. For the 2020 class, passing citizenship and governmental examinations will be added to the graduation requirements. In 2011, the field of Pennsylvania high school students tested the Algebra 1, Biology and English Lit exams. The statewide outcomes are: Algebra 1 38% at grade level, 35% Biology on grade level and English Lit - 49% at the grade level. Reports of individual students, schools or districts are not published, although reported to district officials by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Students who are identified as having special needs and qualifications for the Individual Education Program (IEP) may graduate by meeting their IEP requirements.

Franklin Virtual Academy - 9 to 12. A joint venture of Chambersburg Area School District, Fannett-Metal School District, Greencastle-Antrim School District, Southern Huntingdon County School District and Waynesboro County School District. FVA students have the option of filling out their schedules with online classes or creating a blend of online classes and at school in their high school. Students graduate with a diploma from their respective high school.

Principal Dr. Barry Purvis was recognized as the High School Principal of 2006 of the Year by the Pennsylvania Association of Primary and Secondary Schools.
Extracurricular Activities and Color Day
Chambersburg Area High School offers a wide range of extracurricular activities and extensive and expensive sports programs. Athletics
The 7,000-seat Trojan stadium was overhauled in 2006 as part of a $ 6.5 million renovation project that includes additional home seating and a renovated visitor bench, along with a new press box. Other improvements to this facility include artificial grass, running tracks, concession stands, toilets, ticket booths and parking lots. The Trojans named Henninger Field as their home for football from 1898 to 1956, for soccer from 1968-2003 and 2005, and for baseball from the early 1900s to 2006.
Dana District:
On June 18, 2004, the Chambersburg Area's middle-class boys' baseball team won the AAA Class Interscholastic Pennsylvania (PIAA) Championship Championship, defeating Peters Township High School at the age of 12-5, in a match played at RiverSide Stadium in Harrisburg. Coming on the heels of this country's title, the baseball team was ranked 7th in the Eastern United States by USA Today in their final 2004 ranking.
Girls' Gymnastics Team is recognized as the 2005 team country champion in the State Silver Division.
Members of the track and field team of Lorraine Hill had second year junior high school girls in the country in 2006 with 157 feet, four inches. Hill won the athletics championship of the 2006 AAAA Athletics Championship athletics, won second place at Penn Relays and finished third in the Nike Team Nationals Outdoor competition in the javelin that year. Hill was named the All-American main team by American Track & amp; Field Magazine for his achievements in 2006.
