Progressive Education College was founded in 1986 and specializes in providing courses in Childcare, Montessori education, Healthcare and Special Needs. This college was formerly known as School of Practical Child Care and School of Health and Social Care. The college developed the first few courses for Special Needs Assistants in the 1990s.
Since 2003, colleges have been recognized as qualified Qualification and Qualification (QQI) qualified providers with their programs in line with the Irish National Qualifiers Framework.
College courses are delivered in centers across Ireland, Blackrock, Dublin City, Templeogue, Tallaght, Swords, Killarney, Galway, Tralee, and Cork City. Higher Education provides Full and Part-time programs and a number of programs are available through Distance Learning. Moodle is used by colleges. The Blended Learning program is a combination of Distance Learning and weekend seminars.
The Early Childhood Education (ECCE) Program is eligible for the Pobal Learners Fund. Students completing QQI Level 6 Childcare and the Montessori program can progress to the undergraduate level at St. Nicholas Montessori College, Dun-Laoghaire.
Health training programs include QQI Level 5 program in Elderly care, Health Care support and Nursing Studies.
