Technician is primarily trained in the skills and techniques associated with a particular branch of engineering, with a practical understanding of relevant engineering concepts. Engineering technicians often assist engineers and technologists in projects related to research and development, or focus on post-development activities such as implementation or operations. The engineering technician is between a skilled worker and a technologist.
The Dublin Agreement was signed in 2002 as an international agreement for the recognition of qualified engineering technicians. The Dublin deal is analogous to the Washington Accord for engineers and the Sydney Accord for technology technologists.

Nature of work
Technicians help solve technical problems in many ways. They build or organize equipment, conduct experiments, and collect data and calculate results. They may also help create new equipment models. Some technicians work in quality control, where they check products, perform tests, and collect data. In manufacturing, they help design and develop products. They also find ways to produce something efficiently. There are several areas in this work such as; software design, repair, etc. They may also be the ones who make technical drawings or engineering drawings.

Education
Engineering diploma technicians and 2 year degree are generally offered by technical schools and non-university higher education institutions such as advanced education colleges, industrial schools, and colleges. Many 4-year colleges and universities offer bachelor's degrees in engineering technology, but technology experts are somewhat different from technicians. In some countries, there are vocational education schools that may also grant degrees without giving any degree.
Both Portugal and Spain use the title
In the United States, the Accreditation Technology Committee of the Accreditation Council for Engineering and Technology (ABET) provides a two-year associate degree program to students who meet a set of prescribed standards. These programs include at least college algebra and trigonometry courses and, if required, one or two basic science programs in an accredited school. The number of math and science prerequisite courses depends on the branch of engineering that the student chooses.
The engineering technician applies the scientific skills and techniques normally acquired in the postsecondary program under the bachelor's degree or through a short-cycle bachelor's degree. However, some university institutions provide a bachelor's degree in engineering that can provide a Technical Technician degree to students, who, however, qualify to become fully chartered engineers after further study at the master's degree level. Engineering technicians are called professional engineers in the UK alone.
Certification
In Canada, the term certified engineering technician is protected by law and may only be used by technicians certified by provincial member organizations of the Canadian Technician and Technological Council, such as the Ontario Certified Technicians and Technologist Technicians Association and A ssociation of S and E steeped in T professional echnology from Alberta.
In the United Kingdom, the terms Engineering Technician and post-nominals EngTech are protected under civil law, and may only be used by technicians enrolled in Engineering Council UK.
The term engineers are not protected in the UK, but those holding EngTech accreditation may be employed as Engineers, provided they have additional experience/qualifications. In the United Kingdom the term "Engineer" is used by thousands of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled traders.
In the eyes of professional engineers (but not publicly) More acceptable to reserve the title 'Engineers' until you can meet the criteria required by the English Engineering Council for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status - A Bachelor Degree/Master Engineer and additional professional practice experience (minimum 4 years), and nominated sponsors who can verify your claim is the most common method for IEng/CEng accreditation.
This procedure helps reduce the saturation of the term 'Engineers', which is the concern of many people who have completed undergraduate and graduate studies for many years and often work as 'Junior Support Engineers' for several years after graduation before being able to confidently declare their profession.
