Google Wifi is a mesh-capable wireless router developed by Google. It was announced on October 4, 2016, and was released in the United States on December 5, 2016. The next international launch followed, with England on April 6, 2017, Canada on April 28, 2017, France and Germany on June 26, 2017, and Australia at 20 July 2017.
Google Wifi aims to provide enhanced Wi-Fi coverage through the setup of multiple Wifi devices at home. Wifi automatically switches between access points depending on signal strength. Wifi can be purchased as a single entity or in a multi-package. One Wifi device looks like a small white cylinder. For technical aspects of its function, Wifi features 802.11ac connectivity with 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels, 2x2 antennas, and support for beamforming. It has two gigabit Ethernet ports, and contains quad-core processors with 512ÃÃà ¢ RAM, 412 MB and flash memory, GB. Wi-Fi access can be controlled through a companion mobile app.
Google Wifi received most positive reviews. It was significantly praised for its design, preparation and performance process, but received criticism for its lack of website interfaces and due to lack of proper customization features for advanced users.

Histori
Android Police reported in September 2016 that Google was preparing to introduce a mesh-capable wireless router with an enhanced range, along with the October 4 announcement and price of US $ 129. Google Wifi was officially announced on October 4 2016, with expected availability in the United States in December. This device is available in the United States on December 5, 2016, in the United Kingdom on April 6, 2017, in Canada on April 28, 2017, in France and Germany on June 26, 2017, and in Australia on July 20, 2017.

Features
Google Wifi can be purchased in two ways: as a unit or multi-pack. One Wifi device is a small white cylinder. When combining multiple devices, the device automatically switches between access points. The router itself supports 802.11ac connectivity with 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels, 2x2 antennas, with support for beamforming. Wifi has two gigabit Ethernet ports, and contains quad-core processors with 512à ,à ¢ RAM, 412 MB and flash memory, GB. Companion mobile apps provide the ability to selectively control Wi-Fi access.
Reception
James Trew from Engadget praised the ease of setting up for the device, writing that "Setting up a router is usually not that difficult, but it often involves a bad web admin panel that - ironically for devices that help you enjoy the internet - seems designed in 2003 You will set Google WiFi with apps "and describe the process as" all very simple and painless. " Trew also liked the design, called it "nice" and compared it to other routers by writing that "Fast Internet search for" wireless routers "returns a number of black box corners with bad antennas that may look okay in the office or basement, but elsewhere "and stated that" Google's WiFi white cylinder design, however, is pretty ordinary, and that's the point. " For the performance, Trew was surprised to find that Google Wifi gave him a much higher speed than the previous router, describing it as "almost tripling my old router's transfer speed every time". He also praised the ability of apps to easily add more units around the house, the ability to manually prioritize what devices should get the highest Internet speed and mesh networking capabilities automatically switch between access points. However, he criticized the lack of a website interface and noted that the device may not be suitable for advanced users, but "for people who do not like to navigate the typical router admin console (or even do not know that their router has one)".
Dong Ngo from CNET also praised the setting process, describing it as "pretty clear, and dare I say, fun". Ngo also praised the speed, calling it "fast" and that the coverage and reliability provided by the mesh system is "great". Similarly for Trew, Ngo criticized the lack of proper customization features, calling it "frustrating" and outlining that "you can not do much with Wifi like you can with an ordinary router. To name a few, no MAC filtering, content filtering, or even support for Dynamic DNS (DDNS) ". Ngo also notes that the Wifi system connects to a user's Google account "at any time", which means that, while security updates can be provided on a regular basis, "a constant connection to Google is required.
And Seifert from The Verge repeats the praise for the design, writes "each unit is a compact, unobtrusive cylinder that can be stored on a shelf or counter and does not look like computer equipment in the middle of your living room", setup, described it as "painless and took about 10 minutes total to complete". Seifert writes that "In every room, Google Wifi is able to provide powerful wireless signals and sufficient internet bandwidth for the most demanding streaming needs" and complete the system because it is able to provide its bedrooms at decent speeds, even though it is "the farthest space" and "the hardest test" in his home. He noted that, while the app shows the access point where the device is connected, it "does not allow you to force the device to move from one to the other". Overall, Seifert states that "If everything you care about is raw performance, [Netgear] Orbi is a better router, but for the overall experience, including cost and maintenance, Google Wifi is a much easier system to use."
