The lyrics of his song are poetic and melancholic, depicting the regrets associated with ending a relationship. The choir describes a situation in which a person does not appreciate what he has to lose, and relates it to love. The verses provide a detailed scene involving a broken-hearted man who deals with his separation. The intro song was inspired by the song The Red Hot Chili Peppers "Slow Cheetah".
"Let Her Go" is driven by a chorus repeated five times throughout the song. The second half of the chorus last performed acappella. Includes Rosenberg's acoustic guitar and vocals, backing vocals, piano, drums, bass, and strings, his instrumental songs. The song is performed in key G major, played with a capo on the seventh fret of the guitar.
